Fr. George Gobrail

abouna_guirguis_1Father George Gobrial is the founder and president of Christ Ambassadors mission, a non-profit organization founded in February 2008. He was born and raised in Cairo, Egypt. During college, he served in the youth ministry and in coordinating the elementary ministry at St. George and St. Sarabamon Church in Cairo. He completed his B.S. in Electrical Engineering in 1980. He continued his service as a lieutenant in the Egyptian Army until 1983. He married Dr. Mona Baki on October 7, 1986. On December 5, 1986, he was ordained a priest to St. George and St. Sarabamon Church. On October 29, 1987, he and Mona were blessed with a son, Samuel, who married Jen on July 24, 2010.Fr. George was assigned by H.H. Pope Shenouda to serve the Coptic community at St. Mary’s Church in Savage, MD, as the first priest to the church, on August 10, 1995. On July 4th 2012 Fr. George was elevated to Hegumen. Currently he serve at Archangel Michael’s church at Greenville, SC.

Fr. George studied at the Coptic Seminary in Cairo. He also received a Master in Spiritual and Pastoral Care from Loyola University in MD. And another Master in Biblical Studies (Old Testament) from Lancaster Bible College PA. Currently he works on his D.Min in Strategic Leadership at Lancaster Bible College.

Fr. George is fluent in Arabic and English. He also has advanced reading and writing skills in Coptic, Greek, Hebrew, and Aramaic.
